2017 USA Powerlifting Iowa State Championship Results

Last weekend 22nd Barbell Street hosted the 2017 USA Powerlifting Iowa State Championship in Des Moines, Iowa.  More than 60 elite lifters took the platform, including our athletes Bryan Dermody and Nick Weite.

Bryan Dermody competed in the 120 kg men’s open raw division.   In the end Bryan hit a 584 lb. squat, 364 lb. bench press, 738 lb. deadlift, finishing with a total of 1,686 lbs. and going 9 for 9 on his lifts.  All of these were meet personal records and placed Bryan first in his division. 


Nick Weite competed in the 120+ kg men’s open raw division.  With his sights set on hitting a 500 lb. bench press and getting a 2k raw total, Nick accomplished his goals.  He finished the day getting 7 for 9 lifts and hitting a 733 lb. squat, 501 lb. bench, and 766 lb. deadlift.  All these lifts were raw personal records for Nick and placed him first overall in his division.

Next on the agenda Bryan Dermody will compete at 2017 USA Powerlifting Deadlift and Push Pull Nationals in September.  Nick Weite will step up on the platform again at the USA Powerlifting Raw Nationals in October.
